Purpose
There's more going on than we know.
The learning disability (LD) community appears to be a well understood community without any issues. There's a variety of tests that can identify individuals with learning disabilities and it's a well understood topic right? Wrong. Although there are have been many improvements to this community in the last 50 years more needs to be done. There are many persistent issues that this blog aims to shed light on, along with what needs to be done in order to help this community. Learn to be informed on a topic that is currently affecting millions around the nation.
Fix This.
The on going struggle of correctly classifying those within the LD community can be linked to another major problem; the exact definition of what constitutes a LD. Throughout multiple studies I discovered through my research I can conclude that there are array of definitions all trying to describe LD. All of these definitions make it difficult guidelines to be established when creating classification tests. The Main Issue
The methods that have been used to test for learning disabilities in many individuals may be outdated and inaccurate. Many studies have be done that all lead to one common conclusion; the classification system of identifying LD is flawed. After researching this topic in detail I can conclude that in order for this community to improve the test themselves must improve. Once improved the results will be able to accurately diagnosed individuals with LD and the corresponding help can be provided. What Do We Do?
It may seem like much can be done in order to help the LD community, but everyone can do at least one thing to help. Stay educated. Not many quite understand the challenges the LD community faces, however this blog provides you with the tools and knowledge of understanding this community. Enough light must be shed on this topic for action to be taken. Spread the word, spread the knowledge.
